由本地小學轉去本地國際學校，學生需要提前做準備，包括對學校進行整體全面的綜合了解。另外，國際學校尤其看重學生的成績和綜合表現能力，家長首先需要對於孩子目前階段的學業水平有個綜合的評估和判斷，才能在備戰考試期間對所需的知識查缺補漏，尤其是在英文創意寫作上要加強訓練，及有專業的面試備考老師針對性指導。
一旦學生通過國際學校筆試，就會被邀請面試。面試的目的有三個；第一，給學校認識學生的性格及興趣；其二，了解學生的基本英文理解及說話溝通能力；最後，面試是互動的，學校也藉此給學生發問機會，以了解學校的情況。
